Diets of 4,000 dogs followed

A puppy’s early diet is one of the few things about their long-term health you get to decide.

The largest study of its kind suggests it may matter more than we thought. Researchers at the University of Helsinki followed the early diets of more than 4,000 dogs. Puppies whose diets included raw, unprocessed foods showed significantly fewer allergy and atopy-related skin signs as adults than puppies fed mostly dry, heavily processed food.

The link held even for small amounts. Puppies eating at least a fifth of their diet as raw, real food were the group that fared better later in life. It is an association, rather than proof, but it points in a clear direction: fresh, single proteins early look like a good foundation.

This was an observational study based on owner reports. It shows an association, not cause and effect. We share it because it is the best evidence available on early diet, not as a promise about any individual dog.

Raw rotation from day one

A puppy with little dietary history is the ideal starting point for the Rotation Protocol.

Watch & adjust

Firm stools and consistent energy mean everything is on track. Ease off the pace if their tummy needs more time.

Feed for growth

Puppies eat more for their size than adults do. Your feeding guide sets out the right amount of food by puppy weight.
